Hi there, I'm Pamela and I practice yoga. It's nice to meet you.
So what does that even mean - to practice yoga?
“It’s a form of exercise, right?”
“Is it the path to spiritual awakening?”
“It’s definitely something to do with my girlfriends before brunch on a Sunday...”
All of these are accurate. Because of the ubiquity of yoga in our modern world, it can be hard to understand what yoga was intended to be, what its essence really is. It’s become difficult to decipher what the definition of the practice really is.
Yoga is really about our breath: the incredible human function that we can control, but can also control us if we allow it. Yoga, in the purest sense, is about how we are breathing. By linking our breath with our movement, we unearth the key to unlocking the purest definition of yoga. Every inhalation lengthens and expands us, and every exhale takes us softer and deeper into ourselves. Because of this, yoga is simple - it begins the moment we wake up, and ending the minute we close our eyes to end the day.
I’d love to share some of this magic with you, so let’s pause and breathe together.
